When Reykjavik’s first purpose-built concert hall opened to the public, the director followed the team behind the project – Henning Larsen Architect, artist Olafur Eliasson and Batteriid Architects – from the early stages of design through to its inaugural concert. Eliasson discusses his typically engaging and ambitious conceptual approach to the building’s majestic facade which has rightfully become a modern day landmark. The film documents the birth of the building from the pre-construction phase and unveils the dramatic changes in the east harbour of Reykjavík while highlighting the effects the Concert Hall will have in the cultural life of the locals.
